    • OS: what OS is used and which version
    • Java Runtime Environment: _which java platform is used and what version ???
    • openHAB version: downloaded 2.0
  • Issue of the topic: please be detailed explaining your issue:

When I run C:\users\owner>c:\openhab2\start.bat, I get error “… cannot run JAVA_HOME IS NOT VALID…” [c:\program files (x86)\JAVA\jre1.8.0\Java] … and: “cannot fine the batch label…/ kARAF.bat: ignoring predefined value for karaf_HOME.”

IS THERE A SERVICE THAT REMOTELY CAN ASSIST IN SETUP???

No, but we have great docs were you can find all steps needed, in your case I guess you did not set the java_home correctly or your java version is too old.

Thank you for your response. I guess I’m not cut out for this. My sys variable has [C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-9.0.1] Now get error “could not create java virtual machine…” Again Thx

You need to read the docs more carefully. One link leads to the prerequisites for your installation, where you can find:

http://docs.openhab.org/installation/index.html#prerequisites

As for now, a pre-release Java 9 installation is not recommended and is not yet supported by openHAB 2.

I’m hooked. I need to figure this out. I got it installed (I think) and logged into (my machine IP:8080) and in the Paper UI, I added routines, things, etc. Question: I cannot add any of my Z- Wave devices. I use Samsung Smartthing hub (ST-Hub.) I get the feeling that I need a “USB series controller??” Is this the fix” Does it work together with ST-hub?? Or will I have to remove my ST Hub? Would appreciate any advice or recommendation [aside from… that I should give this up]
