3M-30 Z-wave thermostat communication problems


I have a RTC 3M-30 thermostat. I recently purchased a Z-Wave USNAP radio module for it and installed it in the USNAP slot in the back. The radio module is a RTZW-01. It was detected by OpenHAB as a 3M-30 Thermostat, but I’m not sure if that’s right or not since the 3M-30 does not by itself have any Z-Wave functionality. I think the RTZW-01 radio is this unit in the pepperdb. However, there is also a RTZW-02 variant that apparently supports associations (I can’t find any documentation saying the -01 variant does). Is this the same as a 3M-30 Thermostat in the OpenHAV zwave database?

I have included the RTZW-01 module successfully in my network and can read the temperature from the thermostat now, along with some other status items, but I am seeing a lot of errors in the zwave.log and Habmin constantly shows it as yellow status.

Here’s a little sample of the errors below. I get these over and over…

I’m also seeing errors during node initialization. The GET_CONFIGURATION stage does not complete successfully. Transmissions to the node repeatedly timeout and eventually OpenHAB gives up and moves on, discarding the messages.

So I’m wondering if what I’ve got that’s being detected as a 3M-30 thermostat should be set up as a different, more generic device for the USNAP module it really is. The 3M-30 is not a Z-Wave thermostat by itself.
