2019-03-16_08:36:14_IST [openHABian] Initial setup exiting with an error!

I got errors like this when I used WiFi only for the setup: OpenHABIAN is a bit strange regarding WiFi settings and timezones. In a nutshell, plugging an Ethernet cable brings you through the install process and then you can enable the WiFi in the OpenHABIAN-setup assistant

Thanks for the reply, i actually use Ethernet cable the all time. Didn’t had the chance to setup wifi

Don’t think I’ve ever seen OH fail while installing Log Viewer. Not sure if it would matter but do you have a firewall or router setting that’s blocking port 9001? Are you using a good 5v 2.5A power supply?

@haimbl One other thing you might want to try is setting your DNS to use something like google (8.8.8.8) during the install. I also found this issue on github.

Thanks for your help.
Ive modified the DNS server just to make sure, firewall was opened. About the power supply… Ive got the respberry on Aliexpress and it come with the power supply. Not sure where i can find a better one. I’ll try with my huawei mate 20 pro charger

Update:

First time setup successfully finished.
i’ve done the following step:

  • change DNS server (on router) to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
  • change power supply to my phone charger
  • Etcher version upgrade

not sure which one of the step solve the problem but i bet on the power supply

Of the three listed power supply would be first and DNS second. The version of etcher shouldn’t make a difference.
See this link.

I recommend getting a good power supply that’s made for an RPI and marking this topic solved.
