Anyone tell me why I keep seeing these log items for the aeon labs smart energy switch? It happens over and over and over…thanks!

Because this is an energy switch, and it’s sending periodic energy reports.
What is weird about it - can you give us some context as it looks ok to me.

The context is im just debugging lots of nodes and noticed it; its a smart energy switch so i would assume colors have nothing to do with that; that’d be more like a rgb bulb to me. I have noticed since i put the Dec21 build of OH2 on that the Smart Energy switches i have report dead alot. Though they still work and I can control them.

Aeon and I think Fibaro switches have colour leds around the edge and you can change the colour with the colour class. I don’t know the device, but maybe that explains it?

milty456:
COLOR
Thanks…never knew you could change that…seems pretty useless since it sits on the ground behind furniture.
LOL
Thanks

Yes, if the switch is hidden behind furniture it isn’t very useful. Normally, the color is supposed to be an indicator of how much power is being used by the appliance. You’d have to check the docs to see what the exact colors mean. There’s also a night light mode, the LED can be kept off, or you can set it to whatever color you like.
I really like the energy meter features of the Smart Switch, once I get around to it I’m going to use it to notify me when the washing machine finishes it’s cycle because I can’t normally hear the buzzer. There’s a whole thread about using an energy monitoring system to track a washing machine. It could certainly be used to track other appliances as well.
