Aeon Z-Wave Stick not responding randomly

Hi,
I am running openhab 2.4.0-1 with Aeon’ Zwave Stick on USB /dev/ttyACM0 (raspbian.)
The usb is not plugged in directly due to this nasty USB bug on the raspi, hence the stick is on a USB hub.

Sometimes my zwave devices are no longer available since I can not send / receive commands.
The stick is still shown as online and I also tried to do a soft-reset. but that does not bring the device back to normal. The only way to get it back to normal is rebooting the entire system.
Also restarting openhab does not help.
I also dont see anything suspicious in the openhab logs and event logs.
So I somehow suspect USB ?!

Where should I start do debug this issue?
How could I check (periodically) that the usb is still working fine?

I am running openhab 2.4.0-1

2.4.0 is no longer supported and 2,5,x is no longer being developed. 3.0.1 is the current stable release and there are Milestones of 3.1.0.

Actually it is a nasty bug in the stick not behaving according to the USB standard.

Did you follow the zwave binding docs and enable DEBUG logs for troubleshooting?
