Hello,

i have the same, but on the android app, i see the icons

dont forget to cope one image and call it moonphase.svg, without this, it will not work
i had this problem, after this, it works with multible pictures

@ThomDietrich:
Thank you for your great work and the detailed description to use the astro binding!!!
I use your example to schow the astro datas on my dashboard. It works.

I noted that I have for example in the sunrise and sunset a difference from some minutes (approximately 5-6min) compared for example with this or this site and the datas in a newspaper. The datas from the newspapper and the link are equal.
I assume there are different calculation approaches.
Did I do something wrong?

Did someone notice a difference, too?

Hi. My OpenHAB 2.4.0.1 running on a Raspberry Pi 3 still has problems showing the unicode symbols.
The Astrobinding is installed and configured right (at least I think so): I just set up sunrise, sunset, zodiac signs, full moon and new moon. My sitemap displays all data correctly, just the unicode symbols are exchanged with ??? - using Firefox as well as the OpenHAB Android app from FDroid. I verified that the astro.map file is encoded in UTF8, created a new astro.map with another texteditor in the UTF8 format and downloaded the astro.map provided by @ThomDietrich . None of my approach could solve the problem. Does anyone have an idea what else I could try?

can you send me the svg

Hi Fawad,

I have added the file extension “.txt” as it is not allowed to upload “.zip” files.
Just remove the “.txt” and the you can simply unzip the file. Put it into the directory tree as described. Have fun!

Moonphases-SVG.zip.txt (666.2 KB)

Thanks Justus, i was able to download the zip. Thanks again for the files mate

You are welcome. I am happy that I can share something with the community

How do you insert Text item=Current_Date Time into your sitemap title bar?

Hello,

If you are still making these svgs available I would appreciate getting them.

Thanks!

Hello Justus,
I like this moon icons. Can you send me the svg files pleas.

Greetings David

hi all! thx for the nice icons! are you still able to use those in oh3? i’m struggling to get them to work. Not for the item itself nor a widget

Here’s how I configure dynamic icons in openHAB3:

  • For your Item representing the mon phase, edit the metadata and choose “default list item widget”. * Tick “Show advanced” at the top right
  • Now set the Icon depends on state control to ON (default value is OFF)
  • Specify the name of the dynamic icon (*)

(*) If you stored your icons the usual way (i.e., under ${OPENHAB_CONF}/icons/classic/ (on my Raspberry Pi: /etc/openhab/conf/icons/classic/), then you should prefix your icon with oh: to make them visible in mainUI. Remember to name your icons according to the following template:

<icon name>-<state>.<extension>

Note that dynamic icons are never shown when browsing / editing the `Items through the Settings menu. They only appear on pages etc. where (list) widgets are rendered.

I would probably use moon age (provided by the astro binding as e.g. the astro:moon:home:phase#agePercent channel) to render the moon phase with dynamic icons. The icons would then be named moon_age-0.svg, … moon_age-100.svg and also a default moon_age.svg icon. Given the SVG file it should be relatively easy to create intermediate moon_age-<age>.svg files by properly configuring the dark overlay.

I had the same struggle myself and solved it to copy one icon to a icon called moonphases.png.
(works in basic UI converted from svg to png because ? they do not mix)

The tip was already given some where in the topic

Thanks for the moon icons, very great!. Remember that to use it, we need a “not qualified” icon also. I have cloned “moonphases-full.svg” and renamed as “moonphases.svg”.
