I’ve been able to fix this. The root of the problem is/was that I am new to OpenHAB and the tutorials I followed didn’t mention that I had to install the JSON and JS bindings so that OpenHAB could parse the HTTP response from the Thermostat.
Thank you @jswim788. Your question about whether or not the HTTP Binding was installed made me realize that I might need other Bindings (namely JSON and JS).
@vzorglub Good point. I wrote that last comment to give @jswim788 credit for his help a month after I got the problem resolved. And yes indeed, I had to add the Transformations (not Bindings) but the realization came to me as I was browsing the PaperUI Bindings so it was confounded in my memory.
