Can I use OpenHAB without knowing how to ocde?

Hello,

I’ve been reading and watching videos about OpenHab and it looks very interesting.

I saw that you write code to configure OpenHAB
I a not a programmer and can’t write any code

Can I still Use it?

Thanks

Yes ofcourse! just use this page and google to find the code needed for the spesific functions you require.

You can use it, but as soon as you want to use bindings that are not written for OH2, you will need to start configuring via text files, which is not self-explanatory.

As long as you can satisfy your needs with OH2 bindings you can click everything together with the paper UI. But you won’t have the wide hardware support or infinite customization that makes OH so great.

Then again, you only need basic understanding of programming structures to write simple rules.

To be honest, as long as the binding is installed via Paper UI, openHAB will always install the corresponding config file, which is well documented inside, just don’t follow any nonofficial howtos

But of course, you have to read very accurate.

Thanks

Do you have any good video tutorials to recommend?
