Change thing UID for zwave device/ or force additional parameter value

Currently, I have multiple Fibaro dimmers (v1) running in a Vera environment and moving them to an OpenHab controlled environment.

When discovery for new Zwave devices my dimmers all goes well except that it takes the wrong Thing type UID, it detects https://www.cd-jackson.com/index.php/zwave/zwave-device-database/zwave-device-list/devicesummary/118

but this should be the: https://www.cd-jackson.com/index.php/zwave/zwave-device-database/zwave-device-list/devicesummary/119

The difference I need is parameter 14, I need this to be a value of 2.

Any suggestions on how to set the parameter value to the desired value? I could follow the description as laid out on Modify a zwave binding jar to add/change a zwave device while waiting for a build but find that a bit much for such a trivial change.

I suspect that this can be done in the things config file but cannot figure out how to do this. Any help is appreciated.

Pieter

Welcome!

We really need the information about the troublesome device.Iformation quereied from the device is used to match with the database. Perhaps a newer firmware added that parameter and a new database entry needs to be made.
In the zwave directory of userdata there should be an xml file for the node, generated from its information. Posting it here could help us further…

The two devices are different versions of the same thing. Your device will be detected correctly - however the database may be wrong.

Basically what this is saying though is you have firmware version 1 - not version 2. It looks like even V1 of the device can set parameter 14 to 2, so this is just an error in the database and will be fixed in the next update.

Bruce,

below the offending file in the zwave directory. Hope this will help

Chris says he fixed it. He is the developer. Now the wait begins.

  1. Periodic database export to GitHub (usually weekly)
  2. Binding snapshot build with the new database
  3. You manually install the snapshot build - there is a script to help
  4. You manually delete (NOT exclude) and re-discover the Thing to get the new settings.

Chris,

is there an easy way to get around, besides the link i mentioned earlier to modify the binding jar? As far as I know when applying this the devces/things need to be re-added? or will openhab pickup the changes in the device xml file directly after a restart?

Any timeframe on updates in the device db?

(And yes I will submkt a change to the device DB (www.cd-jackson.com) in the coming days.

The device database is usually exported weekly.
We then need a snapshot binding build using the new database.
You then need to manually install the snapshot binding, usually using our install script.
You then need to delete (NOT exclude) and re-discover the Thing to get the new settings.

Bruce, Chris,

Txs for the speedy reply, you mention that there is a script to help me installing the new snapshot build, could you provide me with a pointer or does that mean i have to change the installation to the snapshot version as described here: How To: Switch installed version (stable build to latest dev snapshot) - openhabian ?

Is there anyway to see/track if the latest database changes are in the new snapshot build?

(Sorry for all the questions but i am still trying to get my bearings in the environment and how all is connected)

Pieter

Sure. I did not have the link handy at the time.
