Does this have to be done manually by everyone or will this probably be fixed in an upcoming openhab release?
I had the same problem but it went away. I attempted to use openhabian-config to do an upgrade. While it seemed to hang during the upgrade, I gave it plenty of time before restarting and the problem is no longer there.

I can confirm after doing an upgrade through openhabian-config the issue is gone!

I’ve just done a refresh install and this problem is back again
