I used the Automate app on my (Android phone) to create a flow (basically a little program, it’s similar to Tasker I think) which periodically checks which wifi networks are available. If it see my home wifi, or one of the ones belonging to my neighbours, I’m home or very close. If it sees the office wifi, I’m at the office. I also created another flow that gets my GPS coordinates. Between the two, I can work out very reliably whether I’m at home, at the office, in the city somewhere or away.
I didn’t know about the openHab app feature that sends the wifi SSID. Interesting.
