Hi:
Would like to ask if anybody has a good way to get forecast temperature (within 24 hours) from OpenWeatherMap? Some of my automations require temperature in the future (for example scheduling heating, charging when el price is low, and would like to know what temperature outdoor at that time). I read the documentation of the binding and looks like there is no action to get the info, hence my question here.
Thank you in advance!
Yes, OpenWeatherMap has channels forecastHours03, 06, 09, 12 etc. that give the respective forecast data.
Hi Andrew,
Thanks, yes I also saw that, so maybe it’s the best way.
I was hoping there is a smarter solution so I don’t need to create items for each hour and find the forecast by hour
Or maybe the question is: is there any way to read value of a channel without creating an item?
The 03, 06, etc. are defined as “now” plus 03, 06, etc.
No.
Thanks
I’m trying to create items with hourly temperature now, but looks like I only have next 12 hours forecast (forecastHours12).
You can configure the number of forecast hours/days in the Things.
After changing, you need to disable and reenable the Thing.
