Hi daksh
I’m guessing you are running a rule which is creating a thing correct?
I’m kind of guessing because I don’t have much information
Perhaps if you post the rule and also tell us what version of OpenHAB you are using and what platform you are running it on, we will be able to help you more

Hi @Andrew_Rowe,

Thanks for the quick response.

I am currently on OH 2.4.0 i am only having this simple rule running on my oh currently.
GNU nano 2.7.4 File: effect.rules

rule “dummy effect”
when
Item Dummy_Fx_item received update
then

val temp1 = Dummy_Fx_item.state as HSBType;
val bri = temp1.red.intValue
val temp = bri.intValue

if (temp==1)
{
sendCommand(LEDStrip_FF_Kitchen_Cabinet_1_FX,"{effect:bpm}")
}

end

I dont think the issue is related to rule.I tried restarting my OH by removing the rule still i get the same error.I guess the error is related to someting else but i am unable to figure it out.

I am running my OH on raspberrypi 3 b+.

Hmmm… error occurs with or without rule you Say? Do you have any thing files? In other words, have you created any things manually using things files?
The error has something to do with not being able to create a thing or a thing being null or some such.
Is this a new or already running working instance of OpenHAB? Please more thourghlly describe set up

@Andrew_Rowe

I didn’t created any things using the config file , but i am creating the things using the paper UI. I have only created 6 items manually using the config file which are linked to my thing which i created using the paper UI.

The thing which i created using the paper UI is an MQTT binding thing which are connected to my 6 items which i have created manually from the config file.

My items file is as folows :

String LEDStrip_FF_Kitchen_Cabinet_1 “Living Strip” (gLEDStrip_Kitchen)

Switch LEDStrip_FF_Kitchen_Cabinet_1_Power “Power” (FF_Kitchen,gLEDStrip_Kitchen_Power)

String LEDStrip_FF_Kitchen_Cabinet_1_FX “Effect” (FF_Kitchen,gLEDStrip_Kitchen_FX)

Color LEDStrip_FF_Kitchen_Cabinet_1_Color “daksh” (FF_Kitchen,gLEDStrip_Kitchen_Color) [ “Lighting” ]

Number LEDStrip_FF_Kitchen_Cabinet_1_Speed “Speed [%.0f]” (FF_Kitchen,gLEDStrip_Kitchen_Speed)

Number LEDStrip_FF_Kitchen_Cabinet_1_Intensity “Brightness [%d]” (FF_Kitchen,gLEDStrip_Kitchen_Intensity)

I am able to control the items but i receive the error messsage in my frontail as defined above.

hey @Andrew_Rowe i think i figured it out.The problem was related to the thing which i deleted earlier.

Clearing the cache removed the error.

Thanks,
