I don’t quite know how you use this, but localhost is subjective and always points to the computer/device you’re using, so this won’t work if you want to access it from another device. Does this mean that you have a UI on the OH host itself? If you instead specify an actual IP address, the dashboard…

There’s no connection between the YAML files and openHAB. I currently have the files on my laptop, so localhost works. But it probably makes more ‘philosophical’ sense to have the files on my OH machine.
