Flood/Water Sensors that work

I have a couple of zwave Aeon Labs water sensors. I am able to include them, create an item and add to my sitemap within Openhab but I cant seem to get the sitemap to display a status once I wet the sensor.
I’ve read all the related threads on the forum and I haven’t had much success troubleshooting. I’ve looked through the supported devices list as well with really no success of supported devices.

I’m open to purchasing a new water sensor.
Has anyone had success with a paticular brand? I prefer zwave but i’m open to others.

If you post more details here (configuration & debug logs) we may be able to help you get the Aeon sensors working.

for cheap water sensor i am using 433mhz , thay are very cheap and are getting the job done , remmber you just need them once year or hopffuly never! same for Smoke
Sonoff RF Bridge 12$ flashed
and each sesnor is somthing like 4$ for smoke it is somthing like 8$
thay are very low power, and bettry will last for a long time
but remmber thay will transmit/ report only if there is leak
there is not status reports , like in Zwave

There should not be a problem using the Aeon sensors. If you have a problem, it would be useful to provide debug logs as Bruce mentioned, but also please tell us what the sensor is, and what version of OH and what version of the ZWave binding you are using.

I have been running two Everspring Water Sensors for a few years now, working very well. Have you added your controller node to the association group that reports back, usually Group ID 1.

Ok thanks guys. Im a little new.
I need to figure out how to pull down the logs.
I’ll post this weekend
Thanks for your help!

See " When things don’t go as planned"

@Bruce_Osborne you saved me hours of searching for this!
I really appreciate it. Logs and other details coming soon

You are welcome. If you want to see if there is anything obvious try the log viewer.

@Bruce_Osborne One more question i was able to enable zwave log debugging via the console but I cant find openhab.log file. I followed BKHobby instructions for installing openhab on my raspberry pi.

Hi below are my logs.
The last device on the list is what I see when I press the zwave button. Nothing happens when I put the leads in water and nothing happens when I press the wakeup button.

Openhab 2
Raspberry pi, installed exactly like BKHobby on youtube recommends.
AeonLabs DSB45-ZWUS water sensor
I install bindings via visual studio, not sure the version installed for zwave.

Thanks for your help

@chris @Bruce_Osborne @Maximo
Just wondering if these logs are sufficient to figure out what the problem is?

Bump,
Just wondering if anyone has insight into why my water sensors aren’t working?
Thanks

Official documentation says “No!” .
See “When things do not go as planned”

See also the zwave log viewer
https://www.cd-jackson.com/index.php/openhab/zwave-log-viewer

Ok i’m lost…
I don’t have a file to point to so I have to copy my logs to the thread. Is there something i’m missing?

Thanks

The end of that page says that by default it is in the OpenHAB log file and then it tells you how to put it into a separate file.

No - they aren’t. You need to enable debug logging for starters and then provide the debug log as a file - not pasted in like this as it’s a) too short and b) difficult to use in this format.

Hey guys.
Thanks for helping me learn about logs. I still need to work on it but i’ll get there slowly but surely.

I figure out the problem. I updated the Perimiter 121 setting to “Send Alarm” and I updated. I also selected the repair zwave option.

I can now see the state change on my sitemap.
Thanks
