I have a problem that I can’t find why and don’t see anything in the log. I created 2 new items, one is a group and the other a switch. I want to add the item to the group but I can’t find the group. If I go to the group to add a member, I can’t find the item.
I do not use the UI to define my items, but my Items which do have groups assigned in my textual config files show up with the assigned group under the first section"Parent Groups".
So does your Switch Item not have this section when you view its details in the UI?
As a tip, I usually have all my group names start with a g_ so that they are easily differentiated from other item names.
The problem exist both ways. The items can’t see the group and group can’t see the groups. I tried creating more groups and items and it does that with all newly created items.
I converted all my .items to UI a long time ago, I think in 4.x.
The thing is I’m pretty sure if I restart the docker, it will solve it. It’s part of random problem my openhab instance get when I don’t restart the docker for an extended period of time.
edit: so this morning, it is fixed. It wasn’t restarted. I don’t know why. I see there’s a new version also that was release overnight
so the problem cameback. newly created item doesn’t appear in list to add as group unless I restarted. I created 3 days ago multiple item, only one show.
what’s even stranger is if I go directly into the newly created group to add the parent group (old group created years ago), it doesn’t see it. While I can see that group in other items and groups.
Here’s the parent view of the group I created 3 days ago. Trying to find PC
