Habpanel empty after powercut

Hi,

i have a openhab3 on a rpi 3b+

i noticed habpanel was not opening again (i had set this as a default website)
The red line= hostname:port

So i opened the main page of my openhab and opened Habpanel from “other apps”
image

And now my Habpanel gives this error:

Everything worked fine untill i had a powercut last night.
I restarted the openhab service already to have a proper start.
Everything works fine except the habpanel then.

I tried to search in the main UI for any habpenl config options but i can not find it.

Does anyone have an idea how i would be able to solve this please?

Thank you!

UPDATE: so i actually changed my hostname (red line) to the openhab IP adress to test.
it does something…
only it stays empty

You’ve likely corrupted your file system. Your HABPanel config has been lost. I think that HABPanel now gets saved to the JSONDB so you might be able to restore the config from /var/lib/openhab/jsondb/backup. However, it is unlikely that this is the only file that has become corrupted or lost. You’d be better off rebuilding the SD card and restoring from a backup.

It’s very dangerous to pull the power for any machine that writes to flash type memory.

Dear @rlkoshak thank you for the response.
i checked your path but dont think i see anything habpanel related

Not sure if this gives more info.
I dont think there is something wrong with openhab, if i am correct (because i set this up a very long time ago openhab 2.5)… this was saved “locally” on that one device where i am trying to get the habpanel working again. (unless local means something else)
This is a small windows tablet.
i think i chose then this:

true, but it was not on purpose
i had a powercut because of a floating switch in a underground rain collector tank

Thank you

If it’s saved locally to that machine then the browser cache or something like that got cleared. Stored locally means just that, stored on the machine running the browser. And I think it’s stored in the browser’s cache so if that gets cleared the HABPanel config gets cleared along with it.

Dear @rlkoshak

i tried multiple times to go to 192.168.1… because of the DNS issue i avoided to use the hostname.
This resulted in an empty/ new page.

Because now i know it gotta be somewhere in the browser.
i tried to change my windows hostfile windows/sys32/drivers/etc/hosts.
added a line for ip with dns name.
strangely enough… it worked.
everything is available again.
Phew.

But…
What would you advise to avoid this in the future?
Can i save this somehow?

Thank you.

Save it to the server. Once it’s saved on the server you can pull it back to the client if it gets lost.

Dear @rlkoshak

could be me… but i dont see a gears icon.
Should be here right?:

according to what i see here https://www.openhab.org/docs/configuration/habpanel.html

is there maybe a certain syntax i can use in the url that sets this in edit mode?
tried settings and edit
image
but doesnt work

thank you

It’s been years since I’ve used HABPanel so any details like that I know no more than what’s in the docs. But the docs do say you have to be in edit mode in order to see the gears. The docs do describe a “lockEditing” parameter. Maybe you have set that in the past.

Dear, @rlkoshak
thank you so much for all the input tho, got me on a right track.
at least i have it working for now, suppose i’ll remake it on my main pc and upload that.

I dont think i have ever locked this.
To switch between modes you are correct, this is actually a different cogwheel.
Also that i dont have tho
