Homekit integration can only be reached locally

Hi,

sorry if this is a noobie question. Yesterday I configured the homekit integration with my garage door and it works fine as long as my iPhone is connected to the local network. Once I’m connected to mobile network (standing in front of my garage) everything turns to offline and not reachable. What am I missing? Do I need to make any changes to the bindings settings?

Do you have a device like an Apple TV or Homepod? This is a prerequisite for away from home access: Set up your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub - Apple Support
