How set up timers for devices in openhub, without using a script?

I have used dummy items and the expire binding. It will not be in OH3 but a PR for that functionality should hit the next snapshot. I expect the syntax to be different though.

For another option I am looking to use HABapp with Python 3 for rules. The watch_change and watch_update functions can provide a different solution.

@Spaceman_Spiff can add more detail as needed.

Unless something has changed, Kai and company were making every effort to make the metadata config the same so all the existing Expire configs would just work.
