Influxdb2 + OH 5.2.1 whole bunch of warnings in the log

Hello,

i’m seeing quite a lot of warnings in the log, followed with bunch of javaerror regarding ping fo the influxdb2
I’m running influx on external LXC within the same Proxmox as OH LXC for years now … and it is definitely running just fine, everything works as expected, influx lxc has got nonstop uptime and it’s always started before OH bootup.
Yet, there is a lot of warnings about database not ready, or persistence not available.
Is it something known or can i supress this annoying log filler somehow?

Thank you

2026-09-13 09:59:46.850 [WARN ] [rnal.influx2.InfluxDB2RepositoryImpl] - database not ready

All I can say is that you are using DSL Scripts or DSL Rules and probably you call there <item>.minimumSince(ZonedDateTime timestamp). Maybe there are no states stored after the requested timestamp, or no table for the item was created. Maybe you can try other <item>. persistence functions from PersistenceExtensions (openHAB Core 5.3.0-SNAPSHOT API) (or Persistence | openHAB - but the former link contains more functions) and check what works, what does not work. Maybe you can increase the log level of the Influxdb2 add-on to see what happens under the hood.

Hi, thanks for hints… anyway I’m not really convinced it has to do anything with data itself

2026-09-16 17:12:56.784 [WARN ] [rnal.influx2.InfluxDB2RepositoryImpl] - database not ready

looks like some internal procedure of OH simply crashed or influx not responded in time or whatever. As I said, all data I’m getting to the UI are completely fine and consistent

These are just hints. I do not use InfluxDB. You can try with different persistence add-on and see if it then works: that is you logic is correct, but only the database setup is wrong.

My reading of your case is that sometimes data is written and in other cases warnings are logged. (But my reading can be wrong.)

As I wrote previously you can increase the logging level of the InfluxDB Add-on in openHAB and then possibly (but I am not sure) openhab.log will contain the exact statements sent to Influx and the received answers (or the lack of answers). This would narrow down what is going on. If there is a timeout-option you could try to increase it and see if this helps.

If there is an exception thrown in your DSL Rules/DSL Scripts/Xbase, you can catch it (try { <item>.minimumSince(…) } catch { Exception e} ( Thread.sleep(x) …)), wait some time and then retry the <item>.minimumSince() call. Do this retry 4-5 times and if there is still an exception, give up. But then you will know if success is just a matter of retrying later, thus a transient problem.

Again, these are general hints coming to my mind now. You could seek also for professional assistance and somebody who looks in your system.

there is no point of setting another persistence as I said all the data are fine and everything works as expected from many years of experience with this setup.

…

what OH version where you running before ?

before? 5.2? 5.1 5.0 4.x … i’m doing of course regular updates …

these warnings i’m seeing like 3months now roughly

I would say there is some connectivity issue…did you try pinging from openhab lxc to influx lxc, there is no loss of packets during these errors? I dont know the details of your networking setup so…maybe there is nothinng to ping if you use host networking..

they are both hosted on same VE and ping is definitely working just fine - as I said I’m not missing data, everything works just fine except these random internal warnings which for some reason occues time to time.

Sure I can change log level, but that’s not really how I like to do stuff

My guess is that internal OH db health check is somehow interrupted, not actual influx machine issue
