OK, I think I figured out what was wrong with my setup.

It was sending the opposite On/Off command when the contacts changed.

I had to re-link the device when the contacts were apart, and it seems to be now saying closed when together, and open when apart.

It could also be that you wired as normally open when it should have been normally closed, or vice versa
