Intertecho switches with RFXCOM binding - not working

Not sure what I’m doing wrong here. Lots of the documentation gives conflicting information on the structure of the item type for this.

Here is the logfile which shows data being received by openHAB when the intertechno switch is pressed:

2017-08-12 16:29:04.655 [DEBUG] [g.rfxcom.handler.RFXComBridgeHandler] - Message received: Raw data = 0B11008601498FFA0C010F70, Packet type = LIGHTING2, Seq number = 134, Sub type = AC, Device Id = 21598202.12, Command = ON, Dim level = 15, Signal level = 7

2017-08-12 16:29:04.732 [DEBUG] [binding.rfxcom.handler.RFXComHandler] - Received message from bridge: rfxcom:bridge:usb0 message: Raw data = 0B11008601498FFA0C010F70, Packet type = LIGHTING2, Seq number = 134, Sub type = AC, Device Id = 21598202.12, Command = ON, Dim level = 15, Signal level = 7

2017-08-12 16:29:04.756 [WARN ] [ome.core.thing.internal.ThingManager] - Cannot delegate update ‘ON’ for item ‘IntertechnoDual1Left’ to handler for channel ‘rfxcom:lighting2:9e891954:contact’, because no thing with the UID ‘rfxcom:lighting2:9e891954’ could be found.

2017-08-12 16:29:04.760 [WARN ] [ome.core.thing.internal.ThingManager] - Cannot delegate update ‘ON’ for item ‘IntertechnoDual1Left’ to handler for channel ‘rfxcom:lighting2:46a15369:command’, because no thing with the UID ‘rfxcom:lighting2:46a15369’ could be found.

Here is the item file:

Switch IntertechnoDual1Left { rfxcom=“<21598202.12:Command” }

The thing was auto-discovered and the parameters match the RFXmngr data.

I have a rule that logs when the button is pressed but that doesn’t trigger (but it did at one point when I was changing things around and I can’t remember what I was doing!)

The RFXmngr dump:

Packettype = Lighting2
subtype = AC
Sequence nbr = 0
ID = 1498FFA decimal:21598202
Unit = 12
Command = On
Signal level = 7 -64dBm

I also deleted the auto-discovered thing and manually created the thing in the things file but got the same warnings:

Thing lighting2 21598202_12 [ deviceId=“21598202.12”, subType=“AC” ]

Loads of other things/items are working with this binding without problems.

Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks

The item file with rfxcom suggests the openhab1 version of the binding, but then you cannot use auto discovery so that is not likely.

The correct notation for the openHAB 2 version of the item file uses channel.

Thanks for the reply.

I did try that but I got the same result:

Switch IntertechnoDual1Left { channel=“rfxcom:lighting2:usb0:21598202_12:Command” }

Could you give us some matching information, so what/how did you define your thing will your item was defined like this, what did you do and what was the exact log output. Your first message contains a combination of different scenario’s which makes it hard for us to help you.

I just fixed it. There were two different versions of the channel in the json db. I deleted the ones listed in the debug log, retained the manually created things in the rfxcom.things file.

In case someone else has the same. Here is what worked (it’s a dual switch).

Items:

Switch IntertechnoDual1Left { channel=“rfxcom:lighting2:usb0:21598202_12:Command” }
Switch IntertechnoDual1Right { channel=“rfxcom:lighting2:usb0:21598202_11:Command” }

rfxtrx.things file:

Bridge rfxcom:bridge:usb0 [ serialPort=“/dev/ttyUSB0” ] {

    Thing lighting2 21598202_12 [ deviceId="21598202.12", subType="AC" ]
    Thing lighting2 21598202_11 [ deviceId="21598202.11", subType="AC" ]

}

What didn’t help was that the openHAB2 documentation shows the openHAB1 item structure. The correct structure was in the github binding info here

Still, thanks for your help. It’s sometime good to write things down and take a step back.

Note that this page just contains the correct example as far as I know:

http://docs.openhab.org/addons/bindings/rfxcom/readme.html#full-example

That’s true enough but on the binding page side panel, there are two RFXCOM bindings links, one after the other (both with the same name).

Untitled

It’s only when you click on them and look at the address bar that you can see there’s a difference. Plus, if you do a Google search for “openHAB2 RFXCOM binding”, you get the openHAB1 binding page. (which is what I did !).

@ThomDietrich can we come up with some warning to be displayed on the legacy bindings its page? I believe we already did some marking somewhere that a binding also has an openHAB 2 equivalent. Do you have any idea’s

Not sure whether to put this here or start a few thread but it’s one of the things I forgot to mention above - it got lost amongst the chaos and I wasn’t sure whether it was my blundering or something else.

Anyway, it’s repeatable so here’s what happens.

With a new Intertechno switch

  • With Paper UI, Configuration > Things.
  • Select + for new thing.
  • Select RFXCOM binding
  • Let PaperUI search for Things.

Nothing is found (it should discover the new switch) but I get the following error logged:

Previously, I did manage to get auto-discovery to find a new switch but I’m not sure what I did prior to that.

Any ideas? Thanks.
