Issues after Upgrade from OH2 to OH3 (openhabian)

It seems that I have a mixture of OH3 and OH2 after the Upgrade. I did the upgrade in SSH window. After the reboot after the upgrade I saw the OH3 startup screen in the SSH window. After another reboot I saw the OH2.5.11 startup screen again. Within the browser I see OH3 with the importet items and rules.

… but “openhab2 2.5.11-1” ist still listed as "rc " and not as “un” as in your screenshot … whatever that means … I’m not an linux expert :frowning:

I have the same Issue.
I upgraded from openhab 2.5.10-1 to openhab 3.0.0.1 and also get the wrong Version Info when starting up the raspberry.
I am using the stable branch.
Is it possible that openhabian searches at the wrong place for the current Version information:

sed: /var/lib/openhab2/etc/version.properties kann nicht gelesen werden: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden

Shouldn’t this be a path with “openhab” instead of “openhab 2” now since the 2 has been removed?

The Web Version (openhabian:8080) is openhab Version 3 and seems to run without problems.

Welcome @A_S in the OH community

I tried to fix the issue as follows:

  1. I run the branch selection again
    image

  2. I have manually uninstalled openhab2 (to get rid of the wrong result line “rc openhab2 2.5.10-1 all openhab2” of the command “dpkg -l ‘openhab*’” by entering the following commands in the ssh terminal:
    sudo apt purge openhab2
    sudo apt update

    after that openhab2 is listet as uninstalled (un)

$ dpkg -l ‘openhab*’
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold

  1. I discovered that the samba network mapping has not been updated during the OH upgrade
    (I modified the textual configuration and was surprised that the configuration was not changed in OH3)
    So I modified the Samba Configuration by edition the file smb.conf and replaced “openhab2” by “openhab” (you have to scroll down to the end of the file)

    sudo nano /etc/samba/smb.conf

[openHAB-conf]
comment=openHAB site configuration
path=/etc/openhab
writeable=yes
public=no
create mask=0664
directory mask=0775
veto files = /Thumbs.db/.DS_Store/..DS_Store/.apdisk/.*/
delete veto files = yes

[openHAB-userdata]
comment=openHAB userdata
path=/var/lib/openhab
writeable=yes
public=no
create mask=0664
directory mask=0775
veto files = /Thumbs.db/.DS_Store/..DS_Store/.apdisk/.*/
delete veto files = yes

[openHAB-sys]
comment=openHAB application
path=/usr/share/openhab
writeable=yes
public=no
create mask=0664
directory mask=0775
veto files = /Thumbs.db/.DS_Store/..DS_Store/.apdisk/.*/
delete veto files = yes

[openHAB-logs]
comment=openHAB log files
path=/var/log/openhab
writeable=yes
public=no
create mask=0664
directory mask=0775
veto files = /Thumbs.db/.DS_Store/..DS_Store/.apdisk/.*/
delete veto files = yes

The only remaining issue is that the log still shows some warnings which may result from Openhab2 configuration:

2020-12-26 17:45:50.962 [WARN ] [core.karaf.internal.FeatureInstaller] - The binding add-on ‘http1’ does not exist - ignoring it.

Have seen this as well, renamed the samba config from openhab2 to openhab as well as just removed the legacy plugin/binding entries here:

sudo nano /var/lib/openhab/config/org/openhab/addons.config

Thank you @BG56 and @hschulze86 for your good input that sounds reasonable to me.
Switching to the OH3 branch also showed the right version number at my system.
I also have the same issue with RC openhab 2.
Unfortunately I am not an expert in Linux, so I can’t contribute to a solution.
I also don’t know if it is really a problem that there are some deposits of OH2 left over.
As already mentioned, the web version of OH3 works, so everything seems to be fine.
