Hey, did you have a look at the tutorial I’ve posted over at:

> [@ITEAD Sonoff switches and sockets - cheap ESP8266 Wifi+MQTT hardware](https://community.openhab.org/t/itead-sonoff-switches-and-sockets-cheap-esp8266-wifi-mqtt-hardware/15024):

Contains everything you need. Pay special attention to the referenced “sub-tutorial”:

>
> Alternative firmware for ESP8266 and ESP32 based devices with easy configuration using webUI, OTA updates, automation using timers or rules, expandability and entirely local control over MQTT, HTTP, Serial or KNX. Full documentation at

Regarding your posted configuration: Why do you define an Item inside your sitemaps file? Thats simply not allowed. Your items file looks okay at first sight but please check out the tutorial!

If any of your five questions still need answering after going through the tutorial, please let us know 😉
