Jasco/GE Smart Door Sensor not reporting to events

@adkisson Did you figure out what was going on? I just got one of these sensors. It’s getting recognized correctly, but I’m not getting any events or battery status from the device.

I have removed + added and reset the device many times.

No. They never worked right. I gave up and replace them all. They work with no issue on SmartThings.

Did you replace them with the same kind, or a different sensor?

I got these… https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E0OMQR6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I was about to start a new thread, but this describes what I am seeing with one of these. (On the device, it lists the GE model number as ZW6301 and has a Jasco ver. 5.0a, model 32563-1.)

I got the device to join, and it has created the xml file. I get battery-level info, but nothing else in openhab. I set the logging for z-wave, and can see things happening there:

|17:21:09.<small>630</small>|11|[RX REQ ApplicationCommandHandler BASIC_REPORT 0 /128](https://opensmarthouse.org/utilities/logviewer/zwave/#info-1458)|
|17:21:09.<small>632</small>|11|[STATE UPDATE zwave:device:controller:node11:sensor_binary ON [OnOffType]](https://opensmarthouse.org/utilities/logviewer/zwave/#info-1459)|
|17:21:10.<small>274</small>|11|[RX REQ ApplicationCommandHandler BASIC_REPORT 0 /128](https://opensmarthouse.org/utilities/logviewer/zwave/#info-1460)|
|17:21:10.<small>276</small>|11|[STATE UPDATE zwave:device:controller:node11:sensor_binary OFF [OnOffType]](https://opensmarthouse.org/utilities/logviewer/zwave/#info-1461)|

The sensor_binary is reporting on the open/close of the device, nothing in the log shows up for what I assume is the alarm/tamper sensor.

I tried setting the Report Method as Notification and Basic Report.

Is it possible there is a 32563 and a 32563-1 variant that report differently?

Is there nothing at all in the log - ie the device is not sending anything? Or is it sending something, but nothing shows in the UI? Please can you provide a debug log showing this if there is something received.

The device only has a single association group, so if that’s configured for the binary sensor, then there’s nothing else to do and it should also report the tamper so I’d like to understand if there is anything received.

Only your system knows what is happening until you follow the documentation and collect debug logs. Only unfiltered logs are useful for troubleshooting.

I was wrong, this morning it looks like the binary sensor IS reporting the tamper as Triggered / Untriggered, with the Report Method set to Basic Report (3). The default is Notification (1).

Do you have a preference on how you want that set when I gather the debug logs?

But, to start, here is the xml: https://easyupload.io/8tset0

Thanks!

Okay, here is the log. Fresh boot of Openhab, starts in method 3, tamper then door alert. Switched to method 1, triggered tamper then some door alerts.
