Main UI: how to get rid of the CHAT button from the sidebar

OpenHab 5.20

How do I remove that CHAT button from the sidebar?

Thanks!

I had read that there was some development going on to make it adjustable which buttons are visible. But I haven’t seen in in the changelogs…

The PR is still waiting for review:

Perhaps you could make some noise for it to get some attention :innocent:

This PR doesn’t touch the Chat, because the chat feature was added after I initially created that PR.

In any case, I don’t think hiding the chat belongs in that PR.

The chat visibility should be turned on/off via the Help & About where the rest of the browser UI options are located.

I had a look at this. There’s currently already a ā€œHide chat inputā€ but for habot. So we’d need to refactor / rename that to avoid ambiguity. I’m guessing the plan may be to completely remove habot? I don’t know! In any case it’s not ā€œas simple as I initially thoughtā€ - as things usually are!

@florian-h05 wdyt?

Yes, it is the plan to remove the HABot entry from the overview tab or replace it with an entry to the chat functionality.

HABot 2018-2026. RIP.
Ahead of its time :laughing:

In that case, we could just recycle the existing chat option and remove the habot at the same time rather than inventing another storage key.
