MCP23017 binding I get a Status: OFFLINE - CONFIGURATION_ERROR

How can I fix this
From terminal I can talk to the chip and every thing is working but in openhab2 bindings I get this error

MCP23017 Status: OFFLINE - CONFIGURATION_ERROR Tried to access not available I2C bus: /dev/i2c-1 (Permission denied)

UniPi binding

I’ve finally picked this up again. I’ve made a binding that can control the unipis relays using pi4j so no need for evok. I’m running this on raspbian jessie, with openhab 1.8.3 installed though apt. Hi is there anything else I can do I am a newbe at this

I also added openhab to the i2c group and still get the offline error
