New Main UI - Empty screen after self-refreshes

Hi,

I’m now on app version 2.4.52, OH on Openhabian (RPi 3B) still on 3.2, Iphone SE 2020, latest iOS 15.6

Latest application tried to move me into Main UI from Sitemaps, but I’m experiencing issue with main UI.

When default screen is loaded, something triggers refresh, sometimes multiple refreshes, which are ending in empty screen (black in my Dark mode setup), no icon to move to sitemaps. Only one way how to make app working again is to Kill and start again.

Default main UI Page contains only buttons to operate my gates, garage door and start irrigation (valve or pump) and indication of water level in rainwater barrels.

Issue happens when I’m connected to local Wifi as well when connected to 4G, but until now only randomly, I haven’t found any way for 100% reproducibility. Same happens on iPhone of my wife ( and you know wife effects )

Using old sitemaps is stable, no crashes or error messages.

Any idea, what and where I can track some more details ?

Maybe posting the code of your page will hello to get some feedback.

Also do you see any errors out warnings in the log files?

What’s happening if you access mainui via browser and not the app? Do you see same issues?

Hi,
no issue to use main UI from PC and Safari on phone, but I will try same, when this freeze happens, as it is random event, quite tricky to debug.

Overview page setup All items on page are linked with MQTT Channels btw, in original post I fortgotten to mention rollershutters, but they was added to page later, when issue was already happening.

My understanding of the given log messages is, that somehow the connection is lost.

Maybe if this issue is happening again and you are at home, check your router log if it will show any disconnects either of your RPi or your phone

I have done some observations and issue really seems to be related to connection switch.

I have seen empty screen multiple times in following scenario:

Leaving house, phone connected to Wifi, usiing phone to close gate.
Within next hour, phone used to play audiobooks via Car Play
after hour, returning home, phone connected to 4G , application is resumed and empty screen happens, no error message displayed, but still no 100% reproducibility. I assume, that OH App was suspended by IOS, not terninated on backround. I’m not sure, how to distinguish between suspended and restarted app.

Issue was not reproduced when phone was switching between wifi in basement/workshop and main house. In this scenario was some connection related error message displayed.

BTW: Router and RPi are connected via wired network.

Brief summary after few months :

I updated to OH 3.4.1 including restart of raspberry and error messages magically disappeared from log.

I also checked online/offline status on myopenhab and it seems, that 2 weeks ago, stability of online/offline status increased and now, online status is for days stable.

Summary: Issue was more related to OH Cloud connection stability, which was improved by 3.4
