OH 3.x Bug - Things going offline/online within Milliseconds

I’m noticing I have a few bindings that are causing things to go offline/online with in milliseconds. I’ve heard/read about this issue with OH 3.x with the Amazon Echo binding hence the reason it’s now being developed outside the OH 3.x publishing framework to avoid this offline/online bug.

The bindings I’m having issues with have been consistently going offline/online within milliseconds for 2 months now since I completely cut over to OH 3.2 Final.

These bindings having the issues are being installed directly from the OH 3.2 GUI interface.

HUE - 2 bridges (50+ devices off of bridges)
Onkyo - 2 receivers
HP Printer - 1 printer

Here’s what I’m seeing consistently.

Below are my binding GUI installs:

Does anybody have a tweak I can make in the CORE of OH so this doesn’t happen so often?

Hello, I have the same issue as @jwiseman but with the HP Printer Binding (HP Printer - Bindings | openHAB). Everything worked fine since some days. But suddenly, it startetd to switch the Thing from OFFLINE to ONLINE and vice versa within milliseconds. I noticed it as I created a Telegram Thing and suddely I got more or less spam messaged telling me that the Status of the Printer Thing has changed from ONLINE to OFFLINE and from OFFLINE to ONLINE.

Im not sure, if it has something to to with the settings I did on the HP printer via the web-interface. I started to change the SMPT settings for sending scans via e-mail. I would say, after the test of sending a scan via e-mail this problem occures.

Here is the log:

All the folloowing steps I tried (via Web UI).

  • I tried to stop the Thing, and restart it. ==> Did not help.
  • I tried to remove the thing and recreated it. ==> Did not help.
  • I tried to remove the thing and to disable IPv6 on the printer (as if printer was offline somehoe the IP v6 was used instead of the IP v4 address on the thing settings page. ==> Did not help.
  • I tried to remove the binding and add the binding Again. Then I added the printer again (with SCAN). ==> Did not help.
  • I tried to remove the binding and add the binding again. Then I created the Thing manually. ==> Did not help.

So, now I’m done and do not know what to try next. I again removed the thing and the binding. :frowning:

Hence, what might cause this problem? Andy ideas, tipps or tricks?

Thanks

My System:
openHABian 1.7.5 (openhabian-pi-raspios64-202212201355-gitb2e396e-crcbd182bf5.img.xz)
openHAB 3.4.0 - Release Build
Raspberry Pi 3B
HP PageWide Pro 477dw MFP

Your NOT alone, it’s been happening to me for over a year or so now.

Mine are:

org.openhab.binding.hpprinter-3.4.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
org.openhab.binding.hue-3.3.0.jar
Onkyo 3.2

OH 3.2 Final on PI4 - clean install

I’ve heard that this issue is a OH core issue and not a binding issue per se. I don’t believe there is anything you can do to tweak something to stop it. I would love to tweak the timeout setting on these 3 binding THING objects as one way to stop it.

Best, Jay

Maybe it was per accident but it started after I setup the E-Mail thing via the printers web-interface and after sending a test scan. I tought this might be a problem, as the Binding says:

Binding for HP Printer with integrated Web-Server

But it seems, according to your answer, that this isnÄt the issue.

So maybe some of the openHAB developers may have a look at this?
