OPEN/CLOSED to ON/OFF

I’m sure it’s here somewhere, but I can’t get a search engine to lead me there…

I assume it’s possible to ‘map’ or ‘transform’ (I’m not confident about the terminology) a channel that wants to output OPEN/CLOSED to ON/OFF?

As with almost everything, it depends on the context. Assuming you want to link a Contact Channel to a Switch Item…

Use the Map transformation with a transformation profile on the link.

Note, I haven’t tried it in 5.1 but it might be the case that it won’t show you Switch Items when you link the Channel to the Item. If that’s still the case, create the Item as a Contact, link it, then change it to a Switch and apply the map transformation profile.

I was thinking somewhere in that direction, but haven’t used map transformations yet. The link you shared only seems to adress a file based solution? How does it work in Main UI?

Make sure you have MAP transformation installed from the Add-on Store. Then go to Settings>Transformations. Create MAP from there. (Take a second to give the Transformation ID a familiar name. It will be easier…)

On the item (assuming it’s a switch at this point) select MAP under profile, and in the Filename field your created MAP transformation should show up.

Aha, thanks. I didn’t understand it was an add-on.

I assume the transformation type is MAP?

Yes, or any other transformation you may need.

And if you only want to change the way the item is displayed, then you can do it without a transformation add-on by adding a State description as Metadata in the item definition:
