Openhab 3 and Tuya

Same problem here: try to bind a Tuya LED-Strip. Seems to receive no IP address(?). In openHAB it says “config pending”. No connection even if IP-address is entered manually (than the thing is reported as online, but no reaction on any inputs).

Everthing is working fine with Tuya LED bulbs/spots. Same procedure is not working for LED-strip.
I’ve created a Tuya developer account. Connected my smartphone. Initially enter the things with the Tuya/SmartHome app. Change the protocal version & the polling intervall … everything works fine … with spots. Not working with strips … any ideas?

Thanks for your help!!

Please make sure to have no smartphone app running in the background. Some Tuya devices don’t accept more than one connection!

Thank you … but I also tried both - with or without smartphone activated/turned on. No change in behaviour.

If you have some Tuya devices working, then your account is set up properly to communicate with openHAB. This means that any non-working devices probably have issues on the Tuya side, likely due to changes the seller requested from Tuya.

You’ll need to poke around in your Tuya account and see if there’s anything you can change in the device schema. If not, then these devices are just incompatible with the Tuya Binding.

Thank you!
I thought of that as well (that the openHAB-Tuya communication must be set up properly).
Do you have any guesses what settings are useful/useless to change? I tried for example to change the instruction set from standard to DP … no change (I also reinstalled the thing with the new setup).
Maybe some hint where I could look for changeable settings?
Thanks a lot for helping!

Sorry, I can’t help you. Even if they look physically identical, Tuya devices don’t always operate the same way due to the changes individual sellers can make.

If a device doesn’t work out of the box, I write it off as incompatible and return it to Amazon.

Thank you for this information. Unfortunately I bought it very cheap at a different seller - so no sending back ;).
But I learned a lot and will pay this small learning fee.
Greetings and good bye!

I only buy tuya if it has ZigBee because it will work with zigbee2mqtt more than likely.

If your LED strip is always meant to be synchronized with another Tuya light, then you may be able to set up an automation in the Tuya app to handle that for you.
