How to use amazon EC2 for openhab cloud companion service instead of default my.openhab.org?

since my.openHAB is not open sourced you won’t be able to run it on your own machines …

I understand My.openhab is not opensource and there are no intentions to make it so, because it has complex architecture involved.

Still, is it possible for some one(may be Victor or you) to explain the underlying architecture. Or may be, some pointers or guidelines what one may have to do to achieve the same functionalities to use a different cloud service or own cloud infrastructure.
