Openhabian crashes at random intervalls

Hi,

Complete newbie here on both openhab and linux, but I have so far managed to get this up and running with bindings, imperihome, hue and tellstick and I am loving it.

The only problem is that it seems to crash at random after 8-12 hours and I have no idea how what to do.
webui is not responding and I cannot even SSH to it.
Also after every restart the webui wont load until i do a “services openhab2 restart”

I am guessing your first question would be to see/check logs, but I have no idea how to find them.

Any help would be much appreciated as my wifes patience is running low after me spending too much money on something that does not work (her words, I am ready to spend more)

Logs are in /var/log/openhab2.

You will also want to look into /var/log/syslog for lines that reference openhab.

Running sudo systemctl status openhab will provide some additional information.

If I had to guess I would say you are having one or more of the following problems:

  • one of the bindings you are using has a memory leak
  • your Raspberry Pi does not have an adequate power supply
  • your SD card is failing
  • your network is taking too long to come up when OH tries to start up

Thank you for the pointers

I did not find anything in the logs, but then again it hasn’t crashed yet.
It’s been on for 9 hours now and 50% of memory is still available so that rules out memory leak?
Will try a new memory card today and I’ve ordered a power supply from the pihut.
