Openhabian for Raspberry pi 3 a+

  • Platform information:
    • Hardware: Raspberry pi 3 a+

I would like to know when the version of Openhabian that supports Raspberry pi 3 a + will be released.
With the current version (1.4.1) the Raspberry pi 3 a + crashes at startup with the rainbow screen.

The RPi 3 a+ only got 512MB of RAM. I have a feeling this is going to be a very sad experience.
My Rpi 3B with 1GB RAM is actually struggling these days.

We’ll bundle an updated Raspbian with the next openHABian image which might or might not have fixes.
But I’m not aware of any fix to come that is to address this.
As @Kim_Andersen already replied it is a bad idea anyway to try running OH on 512MB.
Do yourself a favor and get a server with at least 1GB of RAM.

Thanks for your comments, I will follow your advice and I will pass to the Raspberry pi 3 b

I have OpenHAB running on a Pi Zero W. It took a long time to install but I think it runs fine as a headless openhab server.

In the past I also used Pi Zero W as a server openhab, but only had to handle GPIO and MQTT. In this project we will have UI Habpanel and Habmin, manage communication with KNX bus and manage events planning with CalDav, so I agree it’s better to have more RAM
