Hey guys i’m new to home automation and I’m looking for a few things to tinker with at home. I am after a way to signal my PC to boot automatically when I walk through the front door. Of course I could use the wake-on-lan functionality using my phone to trigger when it connects to wifi, however I rely on 4G connectivity for my phone as I have plenty of data to burn. Any ideas?
You can use Tasker on your phone to send an HTTTP rest request to OH when the home wifi is near
Or you can use a location service like owntracks to trigger something in OH whenever you are inside a geofence.
Use OwnTracks to provide geofence triggers to OpenHAB, then you can have any number of things happen when you arrive/leave home.
