Philips Hue Bridge blocks third party lights (e.g. Osram) since latest firmware (1.11)

Just a heads up for everyone using third party light bulbs such as Osram with their Hue bridge. Seems that it will not be possible anymore with the latest firmware to connect uncertified light bulbs to the hue bridge:

Already connected lights keep working, but once they are removed from the bridge or the bridge is reset, they will not be able to connect anymore, so be careful if you are currently using a mixed setup.

Thank you for this information. I saw it last week after buying my first Hue-Bridge with one Osram LED-Stripe and was not very happy about that.

Sad to see.

There is an alternative to use in OH2/ ESH:

The Wemo Bridge with led bulbs is now supported by wemo binding.

Cheers
Karsten

Looks like they are backing down from it now:

This is very good news

No Karsten, WeMo Binding will not support other LED lights than Belkin’s.

I have some LG bulbs in my Hue… and keep working.

We recently upgraded the software for Philips Hue to ensure the best seamless connected lighting experience for our customers. This change was made in good faith. However, we under estimated the impact this would have on a small number of customers who use lights from other brands which could not be controlled by the Philips Hue software. In view of the sentiment expressed by our customers, we have decided to reverse the software upgrade so that lights from other brands continue to work as they did before with the Philips Hue system.
We are working on the reversal of the upgrade and will shortly confirm when this will be available.
