Problem with MQTTitude display on Google Map

Hey guys,

I am trying to implement a trick presented in openhab.org
Link: https://github.com/openhab/openhab/wiki/Samples-Tricks#how-to-display-google-maps-in-a-sitemap-from-a-mqttitude-mqtt-message

But I am getting an SSL error message!!

Please post the exact error message you are getting and describe the context (e.g. browser error, error in OpenHAB log, etc). Just saying you get an error is unlikely to induce anyone to help you :slight_smile:

openHAB has an item type Location which uses a PointType that should hold the lat,long[,elevation] and show a map around that Location. However, on a recent build of 1.8.0-SNAPSHOT, I can’t get this to work on the classic UI or in HABDroid. You could change your String item to a Location item to see if you have any success where I didn’t.

Instead of focusing on getting the trick from the wiki working, I would love to see openHAB’s UI developers see if they can get this feature to work properly in the various clients, so no tricks or workarounds would be needed!

@robconnolly:
Yes, well sorry for the partial error message.
The error was presented in the Browser Client.

@watou:
Thanks for the information.
I am using openhab 1.7.1, which I found in the github latest release section.
Can you provide the link for 1.8.0-Snapshot?

Also, as the problem was related to SSL, I removed the “https” & changed the port to 8080.
Its working smoothly now.

However, I would also like it to work over my https connection. Can someone guide me how to resolve the SSL error? I think the error is related to validation of SSL certificate of openhab.
Should I replace the self-signed SSL certificate of openHAB with a custom one?

You can download the latest build here.

There was an error in the smarthome core for which I provided a pull request which was merged some time ago: Fix "mixed content" warning on mapviews by hakan42 · Pull Request #494 · eclipse-archived/smarthome · GitHub . Basically, your site goes over https, the displayed small map segment is served via http, and your browser refuses to display this with a warning about “mixed content”.

Please try updating to a current SNAPSHOT build.

Thanks for pointing that out… I’ll definitely upgrade to current snapshot build.

Hi folks,

not sure if the issue is the same, but I’m trying to implement this solution:

the map is correctly visualised in openHAB Designer, or in Safari, but when I try to reach that page on iOS I receive this SSL error:

HTTP ERROR 500

can you please point me on the right direction?

Thanks

Andrea

btw last snapshot (#1111) didn’t do the trick

I have the map working correctly from browser including the showing of the pins for all my iphones. However, I only get the map and my home location, but not the pins for the iphones when using the IOS app.

I do not use https for either OH access or the google map html.

UPDATE: I get the pins when connected to my home WIFI, but not when remote (away from home).

Any thoughts?
