Problem with stability of Insteon on OH 4.3.2

jeshab Jeremy,
Thanks for getting back with me.
Glad I could help.
I do have a “system in the wild” that does trigger some issues.

My “TestOh” system is powered down. but, I can bring it back quickly.
IF you would like logs, or have additional testing, THEN let me know.

  • Correct, after 20 minutes (and no channels), all but two devices were online.

  • Correct-ish: marked as “Error: Comm” instead of “online”
Also marked “Config Pending” (when it had been “online”)

  • I am assuming anything other than “online” means it is “offline”

  • Lot of noise:
A mix of old and new devices means some devices only have power lines for communication.
They would be “less reliable” than “dual band”…
but, due to Insteon redundancy and (4 X re-broadcasting )
they have always worked VERY reliably
THAT is why some folks are so fond of Insteon… even now.

  • I was a bit surprised that “unknown” devices with no channels
immediately changes state when I plugged it in closer to the hub. (No action by me)
I really expected that to be part of the “5 minute cycle”.. or “offline/online” it.

  • Online devices that did NOT respond:
    I only configured 5 channels…
It is common for a newly added device to be unresponsive. Cycling OH usually fixed that.
In this case, a working device stopped working. THAT is unusual.
Not slow, it would not respond at all. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
    Office: 2486DWH8 (6 or 8 key keypad)
    SpareRoom: 2476D (dimmer switch)
Desk: 2457D2 (smart plug “lamp Linc dimmer”)
“Desk” was the device that “hung”.
Even buttons on the device would not work.

  • Correct: thermostat testing worked very well.
Thermostat’s are only “wireless”. I only setup the “heat” channel…
BUT that worked very well. Let me know if you would like further testing.
