Please note that changing password using openhabian-config may not work.
If you change the password in this utility but it does not show the user for which the password was successfully changed, then it didn’t work. The way to test this is by exiting openhabian-config and trying to change the password again from what you just modified, this time using the command prompt.
Enter
passwd openhabian
Then, when prompted for “current password”, enter the new password you made using openhabian-config. If the response was:
passwd: Authentication token manipulation error
Then, it was not changed correctly by openhabian-config.
Now enter
passwd openhabian
This time, use the original “current password” - the one you had before you changed it in openhabian-config. Now you will get a prompt without error to enter the new password.
