Smarthome designer on Linux - very stuck

Hi,

Is there a simple guide to installing Smarthome designer on Linux? I tried downloading the snapshot, and extracting the files into my home holder. But when I run it I am unable to edit files - I can see the tree in the left pane, but double-clicking files doesn’t open them. A bit puzzling - but I’m guessing I’ve messed up the install somehow…

Try chmod 777 recursive on the folder.

oops, I spoke too soon. It worked once (whether as a result of the chmod or not) but has not worked since. Same result if I run as root, so it can’t be a permissions issue…
