[SOLVED] Need to reload all items files after update

Hi Everybody,

when upgrading openHAB (stable branch, always with clearing cache after the upgrade)

  • from 2.4 to 2.5.0 and
  • from 2.5.0 to 2.5.1

I realized that my sitemap (BasicUI) is getting messed up. Icons are missing, labels are wrong (name of the items instead of the label defined with the item) and all that.
I’m just wondering if I am the only one that sees this (or did I skip some release notes?).
Prior (upgrading openHAB 2.3 to 2.4) i didn’t make that obsercation.

Long story short:
When re-saving all items files so that openHAB reloads them, everything is working.
That did happen with all kind of items. Ones connected to a binding and proxy items.

I’m running openHAB on a RaspberryPI 3
Things are configured in PaperUI, items in textfiles

Just an openHAB restart is enough to solve these issues.
If not one, then restart 2 times after an update.

Thanks for the quick feedback.
To be honest, I can’t say if I just restarted openHAB once or twice. I thought I tried it several times but as you ask me I can’t be 100% sure.

I could imagine that this challenges the “not so experienced user” since at first hand it looks like the update broke everything.

Yes this is true and I can understand the frustration.
Here is a little bit more explained post about this, by me:
