[SOLVED] Only lights on status

Hey guys,

Is there a way of only displaying items (lights) that are currently switched on?

thanks

Matt

You could do so with a group, but displaying them in what method are you looking for?

I’d just like to be able to glance at the app on my phone and see which lights the kids have left on

If you have a site map setup then you should see when a light is on or off. Either by the switch itself or by the light icon.

 I have found the expire binding to work wonderfully in shutting them down, it at least lowers the number of lights that left on in hallways. Combine expire and a motion sensor and you have the ability to keep the lights on only if they are moving around in the room.

You can use the visibility tag in OH to only show the individual light when it is ON on a status page.

Personally, I think that is too much work. I create a Group:Switch:OR(ON, OFF) which will be ON when any one of its members are ON. Then in a frame under that Group I show ALL the Items. So I can see at a glance that there is at least one light on (or in my case at least one service or device I rely on offline) and can then drill down to see which one it is, assuming I missed the notification when the device first went offline.

But, like that most prolific of authors and artists anonymous suggests, this sounds like a job for automation. Why do something manually that OH can do for you?
