Agreed and I said so on the AC thread where this was brought up.
I believe the consensus is that the GUIs address “users that are new and want to build a smart home”. “Power users that are working with software on a daily basis” have already made it quite clear they don’t want no stinking GUI in the first place so those users will be supported through text based configs.
This is going to be a rant. But why why why does everyone seem to think that if we are talking about new users and GUIs and making things easier in one thread where that is the topic it means we plan on breaking everything for the power users. And then you go and talk about how to support the power users and everyone starts to shout “what about the new users?!”
Just because we want to make the GUIs easier to use does not mean we are taking away from power users.
