State O-Matic Binding - Monitor your Washingmachine / Dishwasher / Electric Car Etc

No problem, thanks for the response!

Does this mean it’s in the marketplace? I’m still on stable so don’t have the marketplace yet…

Yes should be on the marketplace.

Nice, this binding. Wanted to install it, then I noticed I did not see it in the marketplace, presumably because this post does not have a ‘published’ flag. When I configure the marketplace to also show unpublished entries it does show up.

I’ve added the tags.

Best regards s

I noticed this in the Marketplace. Thanks for developing it and maintaining it.

I am looking for a way to monitor my refrigerator which involves different concerns than a washing machine. Basically I want to be alerted if it stops running or runs continuously (which would indicate that it never gets cold enough for the compressor to shut off). I’m going to play with it and report back. I welcome any suggestions. I’m starting with 3 hours (10,800 seconds) as the Idle Time.

I encountered one small problem setting it up. I’m running openHAB3.2 Release version on a Pi4B. I have a Z-wave power monitoring smart plug. The Thing reported an error with the Power input. There was enough information for me to suspect that the problem was that the Power and Energy Items types of Number:Power and Number:Energy were incompatible with the Number type expected by the model. (I try to use Units of Measure wherever I can). I changed them to Number type and the Thinng came online.

I have another big issue with this fantastic binding on OH3.2…
After 3 hours of monitoring a device it completely stop my openhab! No more graphs of other items,no logs on what happen…i have to reboot openhab/raspberry.
I’ve tried running it without the rule to log consumption, but no luck. I’ve temoved energy items from thing conf, but the issue still persist.
Any help?

I have the same issue here. The openhab dies and I have to restart the services. @Seaside , do you have any idea why does it happen? Can I help you in anyway to solve this issue?

in testing environment i’ve seen the binding gives a java error:

and after this the binding freeze, freezing some other bundles. but not all.
the first time it happened i’ve restarted only the state o-matic binding and everything restarted to work.
th second time, i’ve waited some mins (5 mins) and it get back to work by itself.
apparently there no actions done by myself that cause istantly the binding to stop. it just stops.
i would like to try the alpha1 of the binding to checkif this hangs too…

but to block everything seems to be this one:

2022-02-15 15:07:49.064 [WARN ] [ab.core.internal.events.EventHandler] - Dispatching event to subscriber 'org.openhab.binding.omatic.internal.event.OMaticEventSubscriber@151704d' takes more than 5000ms.

I’ll try to look into the issue, have not seen this myself. A good start is to rebuild the binding with latest dependencies.

Best regards s

great! really appreciated because your binding is really good and easy to use! i think many users will appreciate this! really thanks for your help/job!

Thanks! I’m waiting for this to be fixed. This binding is why my wife started to tolerate my hobby with openhab  please let ne known if I can help with testing!

I’ve built an ALPHA4 with updated dependencies. I’ll look into the other issues as well now.

How can I upgrade if I installed from the openhab UI (community marketplace)? Do you think this update solves the issue with the freezing of the bindig/openhab?

I received again this error, and openhab stopped running:
2022-02-25 12:36:42.862 [WARN ] [ab.core.internal.events.EventHandler] - Dispatching event to subscriber ‘org.openhab.binding.omatic.internal.event.OMaticEventSubscriber@3e96cb’ takes more than 5000ms.

thanks for feedback, i’ll wait for the moment to put this in production envirnoment…

I’m running the latest build, you can check by doing:

openhab> bundle:list|grep -i state
 ID │ State │ Lvl │ Version │ Name
335 │ Active │  80 │ 3.2.0.202202231909    │ openHAB Add-ons :: Bundles :: State O-Matic Binding

In the karaf console. If you are not using the latest version, I’m not actually sure how you update it, I guess you could force the update by removing the binding and installing it again (without removing the things, but test with something else before doing this and screenshot your settings just in case).

I have used the latest version for a week or so without noticing any leaks or the problem mentioned above.
Please let me know if you can reproduce this with the latest version of the binding.

I think I found the issue, the threads seem to get locked in some cases, resulting in a deadlock.
I’ll get back once I have tested the fix.

Best regards s

Good news, thank you!

Published a release with a fix for the dead locks as well as Number:Power and Number:Energy
It’s a bit a hard to say for sure the deadlock is gone, but I choose to publish the release now anyway, and if there are other issues or if it still an issue for you I will continue looking into it.

Hi! I’ve tried it. First it seemed to be ok, but today openhab became unresponsive and I got the same errors in the log, than I had to restart openhab.

We have a washingmachine and a dryer. First we used the washingmachine, everything was ok. Than, when it finished we started the dryer and to washingmachine paralell… than the openhab stopped responding.

Are you sure you are using the updated binding? I actually removed all locks as well as changed the thread-poool.

If you login to the karaf-consol and run:

openhab> bundle:list |grep -i State
 ID │ State │ Lvl │ Version │ Name
336 │ Active │  80 │ 3.2.0.202203041429    │ openHAB Add-ons :: Bundles :: State O-Matic Binding

Also run

openhab> shell:threads |grep omatic
"OH-omatic-5079" Id=224738 in TIMED_WAITING on lock=java.util.concurrent.locks.AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject@12913e6
"OH-omatic-5084" Id=262720 in TIMED_WAITING on lock=java.util.concurrent.locks.AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject@12913e6
"OH-omatic-5086" Id=276909 in TIMED_WAITING on lock=java.util.concurrent.locks.AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject@12913e6
"OH-omatic-5087" Id=278267 in TIMED_WAITING on lock=java.util.concurrent.locks.AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject@12913e6
"OH-omatic-5088" Id=278451 in TIMED_WAITING on lock=java.util.concurrent.locks.AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject@12913e6
"pipe-grep omatic" Id=297071 in TIMED_WAITING on lock=java.io.PipedInputStream@1da668c

What version of OpenHab are you using?
