I know that many of you don’t care how much data is collected from your home automation system, but I happen to think it’s a huge problem, so I’d just like to make sure that those that use these devices are aware.
Ring will soon start to upload face recognition data from any face “seen” by their cameras. They claim to “respect” privacy laws where they exist, but I would be very cautious about actually believing such a claim. You pretty much just have to take their word for it.
Not only will you upload face recognition data for yourself and your family, you will also be a collaborator in collecting face recognition data for anybody that visits your home. That alone is too unethical for me.
