Telegesis ETRX3 offline communication error

Hi

I have just received my Telegesis ETRX3 and connected it up but I am getting a offline communication error

it is set to /dev/ttyUSB0 which I have confirmed by running ls /dev/tty* with and without the dongle present

any ideas why its not initialing?

Thanks very much

We will need a bit more info about your system and what you tried already,

Hi

I am running a custom server which runs vmware and I have installed the latest openhab software

I have manually added

EXTRA_JAVA_OPTS=“-Dgnu.io.rxtx.SerialPorts=/dev/ttyUSB0”

my problem however does sound similar to this one as I also get the server 500 error, but cannot work out how to resolve it

I have checked the open hab log and I get the below

however it shows /dev/ttyUSB0 as not existing but it is present?

Thanks very much!

That error can be sometimes misleading. If the openhab user doesn’t have permission to read/write to that “file” it assumes it doesn’t exist.

Have you added the openhab user to the group that owns /dev/ttyUSB0? Usually that’s dialout but on some systems it can be different. ls -l will show what the Group is.
