I have an input that tells OpenHAB if my generator is running and I display this in my site map, but I also would like to keep track of total generator runtime in hours. Anyone know a way to do that inside OpenHAB?

You will need extra items for the times, eg. item1_runtime…
You will need to put your items in groups. eg. gRuntime, gItems, gPriority…

You will then need to work with items in groups (the arrays mentionned in your post):

Of course, simply have individual rules triggered on individual Items, so that you will have access to exactly what the trigger was. See Ben Jones lambda example above for one way to re-use common code across many rules.
