Warning for zwave devices

Hello, can I ignore the warnings or what can I do to fix them?

00:00:23.766[WARN] [org.openhab.core.common.registry.AbstractRegistry] - Cannot add “ItemChannelLink” with key “AlarmMotion30 → zwave:device:7287d1edd0:node30:alarm_motion”. It exists already from provider “GenericItemChannelLinkProvider”! Failed to add a second with the same UID from provider “ManagedItemChannelLinkProvider”!
00:00:23.767[WARN] [org.openhab.core.common.registry.AbstractRegistry] - Cannot add “ItemChannelLink” with key “LightSwitch → zwave:device:7287d1edd0:node20:switch_binary1”. It exists already from provider “GenericItemChannelLinkProvider”! Failed to add a second with the same UID from provider “ManagedItemChannelLinkProvider”!

Thanks

You can’t have two channels with the same UID, remove one. Sometimes this is a ZW DB issue, but in this case, I’m guessing you have textual channels and a scan picked up the duplicate. It might still work using the generic. If it happens with a ZW DB mis-config, the device won’t load

I reinstalled openhabian and restored all from zip. I have items in txt files. Can you give me a hint where I can remove anything?

Thanks

Actually, I was hoping for hints as to what devices (so I can look them up), what where you doing when the warnings appeared (adding new devices, upgrading OH-version) or have you had these errors for years? Are you trying to migrate from text to UI? Do you have any devices in the inbox (either discovered or ignored)? Are these new devices or have you had them a long time?

Anyway, I’d search your conf folder or look through the json files for duplicates. You may not find them in .json because the warning implies it was not created

Hi Bob

I never had these warnings before. Then I updated to a pi5 and to 5.1.1 and restored the setting with the initial.zip. I don’t remember but i think there were no such warnings. Then updated to 5.1.2 and all was a mess, not working. Then reinstalled 5.1.2 with the old .zip and since then I have these warnings. All z-wave devices are in the log with the same warning.

I now downgraded to 5.1.1 but get the same warnings. See them after a reboot. But z-wave devices are working.

here the log. If I can fix this myself please can you provide where?

thanks

logfile.txt (14.7 KB)

uh… did a “unlink and remove all items” for every z-wave thing. This may have fixed the issue. After a reboot no more warnings.

Glad it is fixed. It might have been possible just to delete all the channels and leave the items, so you could relink and keep your rules.

From the log it looks like you might have been updating from OH2.5.x (or at least there are remnants of it in your backup) That is a major step and would have been good to know. For instance, the openhab2 folder was renamed to openhab in OH3 and the eclipse/smarthome references where changed/dropped. The root cause could have been anything. I noticed a lot addons didn’t load. You still may have problems. If it was me, I might be tempted to start with a new OH and use the UI. The Zwave network is on the zstick, so a scan could pick up your devices and channels that can be linked to a new item.

Lastly I’d go with OH5.1.2. The Zwave actions had problems (heal device, remove device, etc. were not working) in 5.1.1 and the changes were backported to 5.1.2 (from the current OH5.2 development branch)

Thanks, all the old stuff must come from the restore of the backup. I maybe started once with that old version. I am now on 5.2 M1 because with 5.1.2 many zwave features like show network map did not work. I guess because Items are text based the delete in the GUI did only remove dublicates and did not break any rule.

How get i rid of the addons? or old stuff?

If I would do a clean install, will the zwave things remain their device id? Because to redo all the rules would be a pain.

Not really an expert on all things OH, but I’ll try. The addons should be in the addon folder. I’d also go through the startup log to help find files to delete until it gets cleaner (and still works  ) You might need to use the linux command line or samba but “/usr/share/openhab2/addons does not exist, please create it.” For instance there is no openhab2 folders, so I don’t know if the addons ever were loaded?

"10:33:03.725","WARN","org.openhab.core.karaf.internal.FeatureInstaller","The ui add-on 'paper' does not exist - ignoring it."

I know paperUI doesn’t exist anymore and I think habmin doesn’t either.

I don’t know if you backup from what you have now that the startup log might clear up, but that might be an idea.

Edit: The nodes should stay the same. You also could (should) save the .rules and .items separately and add them back. They don’t seem to have issues

Thank you. Rules and Items I have only in txt files. Everything else in GUI.

I deleted some entries in config files and most warnings and errors are gone.

openhab2 was a felix config I removed it from all files with that path. Maybe I could delete the entire config.
