Where is MQTT configuration is gone to

  • Platform information:
    • Hardware: raspi
    • OS: openhabian
    • Java Runtime Environment: which java platform is used and what version
    • openHAB version: 3.3
  • Issue of the topic:
In the official openhab tutorial (https://youtu.be/-U4-ZFYftLY?t=673) on youtube there is an option called ā€œMQTT system broker connectionā€ under settings ā†’ other settings.
In OH 3.3 I canā€™t find this configuration option any more.
I also have no idea how to configure the MQTT binding, that I have installed instead.

The so-called ā€œSystem Brokerā€ is no longer part of the actual releases. Using an external broker like Mosquitto is suggested instead.
The official documentation can be found Here.

Wait, thereā€™s an official openhab tutorial on youtube? This is news to me

Missed this one

Have a look at the mqtt-tutorial from hafniumzinc
Propably you can skip the mosquitto-part as you are running openhabian. That should have a mosquitto-instance included.

Yes, but itā€™s an optional component that has to be installed through openhabian-config. I canā€™t remember what menu item it is, but it should be reasonably obvious.

should be 23

Once you have installed your mqtt server, you need to create a mqtt bridge thing within openhab. The bridge thing is storing your configuration
