Wink/Hue Hub Required?

I’m new to this and just deciding if i should install OpenHAB. I’m a little confused.

I have a Wink and a Hue hub. I also have various bulbs connected to the wink hub.

With OpenHAB do i get rid of the hubs and OpenHAB takes the place of all the hubs? Do i then place things anywhere, as long as they can get a good wifi signal to communicate back to OpenHAB?

Depends on the transmission technology that your devices, i.e. bulbs, do use.
For Hue bulbs, they still need to talk to the Hue bridge, but you would no longer control it from the Wink hub but from openHAB.
